HDB to Launch Three BTO Projects at Lakeview and Shunfu From June 2026
Summary
The Housing & Development Board (HDB) announced that three Build-To-Order (BTO) projects will be launched at Lakeview and Shunfu starting June 2026, marking the first time in over four decades that new public housing is being introduced in these well-established residential areas.
Historic Return of Public Housing
This development represents a significant milestone for the mature estates, with the three projects collectively offering approximately 1,600 new homes. The launch aims to provide more housing options for homebuyers, particularly those seeking to live close to their families in nearby towns such as Toa Payoh, Bishan, and Ang Mo Kio for better mutual care and support.
First Lakeview Project: 1,200 Units
The first Lakeview BTO project will be launched in the June 2026 sales exercise, with construction works commencing progressively from the second quarter of 2026.
Located along Upper Thomson Road and bounded by the existing Lakeview Estate condominium, this substantial development will comprise five residential blocks offering approximately:
- 470 units of 2-room Flexi flats
- 740 units of 4-room flats
- 50 units of public rental flats integrated into two of the blocks
Design Highlights
Designed to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding low-rise developments, the project will feature blocks of varying heights ranging from 18 to 40 storeys that gradually step down toward the area's established residential character. The blocks are strategically oriented to provide residents with scenic views, including vistas of the nearby MacRitchie Reservoir.
The project classification and additional details will be announced closer to the June 2026 sales exercise.
Two Additional Projects
The remaining two BTO projects – one additional project in Lakeview and one in Shunfu – will together offer:
- 130 units of 3-room flats
- 290 units of 4-room flats
Enhanced Amenities for the Community
The new developments will bring a comprehensive range of amenities that will benefit both new and existing residents in the area, creating a more vibrant neighborhood. Facilities include:
- Eating house
- Minimart
- Medical clinic
- Bakery
- Hair salon
- Childcare centre
- Residents' Network centre
Additionally, new covered linkways will be constructed to connect the new Lakeview BTO project to the bus stop along Upper Thomson Road, providing residents with sheltered access to public transport.
Building in Well-Established Areas
The introduction of new public housing in these mature residential areas demonstrates HDB's commitment to meeting strong housing demand while revitalizing established neighborhoods. By developing in well-connected locations with existing infrastructure and amenities, HDB aims to provide homebuyers with quality living options in familiar and accessible areas.
The projects are expected to attract significant interest from applicants who value the maturity and convenience of these locations, combined with the benefits of brand-new homes with modern facilities.
